A companion delivered with the app

The watch app is a companion that ships alongside the phone app under the same listing, as a separate artifact for the watch. It requires Wear OS 3 or newer.

Clock in and out from the watch

You can start and end a shift straight from the watch. A Wear OS tile gives you a punch button in the tile carousel, and a watch-face complication puts clock-in on the face itself — so a shift begins with a single tap on your wrist.

The active shift on your wrist

While a shift runs, the watch shows the live reading — the elapsed time and the pay counted so far — so you can glance at progress without opening anything on the phone.

In practice: you arrive with your phone stowed away, raise your wrist and tap the Elmtrackr tile to start the shift. The watch keeps the elapsed time in view while you work, and when you clock out the punch syncs back to your phone the next time they connect.

Syncing with your phone

Punches made on the watch are recorded and sync back so your phone holds the same record. As with the rest of Elmtrackr, cloud sync across devices happens when you are signed in, sync has been configured, and you have a connection; until then the data stays local on the device.

Setting it up

Pair your watch with your phone as usual for Wear OS, then install the Elmtrackr companion on the watch. The phone app remains the main place to set your rates, rules and reports; the watch is there for the quick, hands-free part — clocking in and out.

What still needs the phone or an account

Configuring rates and rules, viewing full reports, and exporting are done on the phone. Signing in and cloud sync need a network connection and an account. If you never sign in, the watch and phone still work together for tracking, with everything held on the device.
